I am a Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals, couples and teens in Los Angeles, California. My style is active and engaged with the intention of creating a safe environment to empower growth and healing. In addition to talking about the past, we will focus on what's happening in the present in order to bring experiences, sensations, thoughts, and feelings into awareness.
Through this process, chronic patterns and core beliefs can shift to allow you to feel more alive, vital, and courageous. In therapy, we explore your inner world to understand the underlying causes of your pain, to heal, and to access and expand your capacities. We also take into account family history, and the influences of ethnicity, culture, and societal forces on your life.
If you suffer with states of depression, or feelings of fear, anxiety, or loneliness, or you feel generally dissatisfied with aspects of your life, our work together can provide hope and a path towards greater peace and happiness.
Adolescents
Adolescence can be a difficult stage in life. The social and academic pressures teens face can be daunting. Issues such as peer pressure, difficulty making or keeping friends, worries, fears, trouble concentrating, sleep issues and other challenges can cause immense stress. Adolescents face increased academic and social pressures just at a time when they are often less open to parental advice. A therapist can provide an adolescent with badly needed emotional support in an honest and non-judgmental professional setting. Therapy provides an opportunity for adolescents to work through difficult feelings and learn how to get their needs met. Some adolescents just need a little help to get back on track and others have more severe mental health issues such as depression, substance abuse and eating disorders. It can be helpful for an adolescent to talk to someone about these challenges. Therapy can be a good place to help address those challenges and to find ways to manage them. Facing these difficulties alone can be overwhelming and extremely difficult.
